The Red Cat Jazz Festival is the Red Cat Jazz Preservation Society’s largest fund raiser. The Jazz Festival started in 2009 as a 1-day festival drawing 1,800 people. Now in 2015, the festival has achieved a 7x increase in attendance since their inaugural year, stretching four days with 45,000 attendees daily. The music festival has cemented itself into the DNA of Galveston Island’s biggest, baddest music festival, attracting big names in jazz, blues and zydeco music from Al Jarreau and Kirk Whalum to Jonathan Butler and Mindi Abair.
